Entrepreneurship Lecture Series for UVU's Woodbury School of Business
Utah Valley University had the distinct honor of welcoming entrepreneur and philanthropist Travis Hansen to speak as part of the Reed and Christine Halladay Entrepreneurship Lecture Series, hosted by the Woodbury School of Business.
Hansen — CEO and founder of Tesani Companies, and co-founder of the Sunshine Heroes Foundation — shared insights from his entrepreneurial journey and his deeply personal commitment to creating lasting social impact. Throughout his talk, Hansen emphasized a simple yet profound philosophy: “Stuff no mattah. People mattah.”
This mantra, rooted in his life experience and values, has been a guiding force behind his work — both in business and philanthropy. Hansen and his wife LaRee have established 10 nonprofit children’s centers worldwide, aimed at supporting vulnerable youth. “Our mission was never about money,” he said during the lecture. “It was always about using business as a tool to bless lives — especially those who need it most.”
In the accompanying video interview, Hansen expands on how his faith, family, and global experiences have shaped his leadership. He encourages students and aspiring entrepreneurs to seek purpose beyond profit, invest in people, and pursue ventures that make a real difference.
